Dragon Tree. If you have been on holiday to Madeira or the Canary islands you will be familiar with this lovely plant. This Dracaena is slow growing with each leaf once shed leaving a fantastic scar on the stem. This is a tactile plant that you can’t resist as you pass. Draceana Draco usually form one main stem and do not tend to branch adding to the overall architectural look.
The leaves are sword-shaped and can reach up to 60cm in length when mature. Scented white flowers are produced in the summer on mature plants.
This delightful Dracaena will benefit from direct sunlight and a very sheltered position. It can also be used in atriums and unheated conservatories.
Red Yucca. A stunning plant with long grass-like foliage edged with delicate curled filaments. The rosette formation of the leaves gives a great architectural form to the plant. The leaves are dark green in colour and have a strong central channel that gives the leaf a slight curve.
Coral red flowers are produced on long arching stems in the summer. Hesperaloe is related to Yucca and will enjoy all of the same conditions. Sun, well drained soil and as hot a spot as you can find and this lovely plant will reward you with lots of flower spikes. Fully hardy and drought tolerant
Foxtail Agave. A stunning yet subtle Agave that has beautiful bluish green leaves. Plant in free draining soil in a very sheltered spot. Very susceptible to frost, will need protection in the colder months.
