Fringe tree, old man's beard, poison ash, Virginian snow flower A multi stemmed shrub or small tree which is slow growing. In late spring an abundance of feathery white flowers is produced in pendent panicles providing a showy display. The slightly fragrant flowers are delicate and thread like and appear as a billowy mass before the leaves in May. The green leaves of summer turn yellow in autumn. Though not often seen, this is a useful addition to a sheltered site. Prefers full sun and a sheltered site. Height and spread 3 metres x 3 metres, plant in moist soils which are low pH (acidic).
