Magnolia ?Black Tulip? has huge goblet / tulip shaped flowers that are almost black to deep purple / red in colour and freely produced in March to April. The flowers reach up to 15cm across and as with most Magnolias appear before the foliage adding to the dramatic spectacle. The leaves once they emerge are larger than most Magnolia species too. Forming an upright tree or small shrub up to 7m it is a suitable choice for smaller gardens or as a feature in larger gardens. Best in full sun to partial shade in a well drained acidic soil.
