Abies nordmanniana

Description: A very handsome and large specimen conifer with aromatic dark green foliage and rich lime green new growth in the spring. Forms a narrow shapely tree with branches sweeping downwards. Easy to grow and disease-resistant. Commonly used today as a Christmas tree because it retains its needles well.

Climate/Position: Open position in full sun with plenty of space to ensure a good specimen can develop.

Height/Spread: Large tree up to 60 metres

Soil Requirements: Rich, moist but free-draining soil needed, avoid chalky soils and polluted areas.

Pruning: No pruning required.
