Achillea 'Pineapple Mango'
Description: Another addition to the increasing range of colours of Achillea. Plants are of compact bushy habit which looks very neat and are valued for their long flowering season. The flowers are rich pink fading to salmon and finally shades of yellow and are held on stems above the ferny foliage with a spicy aroma.
Uses: This compact form is especially good for growing in containers. Also good in a sunny border especially when used with hot colours or among grasses. Ideal for creating a cottage garden effect or for naturalistic planting and is attractive to insects but not liked by deer. It also makes an excellent cut flower and the flower heads can be dried for use in floral arrangements.
Climate/Position: Full sun
Height/Spread: 45cm x 40cm
Soil Requirements: Moist, well-drained but not wet soil but also adaptable to most soils and Achillea are drought tolerant.
Pruning: The flower heads can be cut back directly after flowering but most people prefer to leave the attractive flower heads through the autumn and winter and cut down to the ground in late winter
Special Requirements: Lift and divide clumps in autumn or spring if required.
Additional Interest: Achillea was named by the Swedish botanist Linnaeus, in honour of the Greek hero Achilles
