Amsonia orientalis
Description: A low growing clump forming perennial with lance shaped leaves interspersed with stems of star shaped pale and dark blue flowers in late spring and summer. Relaible each year, not a spectacular flower but worthwhile as a filling plant which is easy to grow.
Uses: Good for multiple planting as ground cover in a sunny border or even a gravel garden.
Climate/Position: Full sun or partial shade
Height/Spread: Up to 50cm x 50cm
Soil Requirements: Most soils suitable, moist but free draining as it does not like wet. Can also be drought tolerant.
Pruning: None required
Special Requirements: Milky sap can be a skin irritant
