Bergenia cordifolia
Description: This hardy clump forming perennial produces 30cm (12in) large thick leathery green leaves which often turn bronze in winter. From late winter they produce pretty dark pink flowers.
Uses: A good addition as ground cover for beds and borders in dappled shade or full sun.
Climate / Position: Best in full sun, but can take shade too.

Pruning: None required. Dead leaves can be removed to improve overall appearance.
Special Requirments: Forms a matt of rhizomes across the ground which are underground stems. Plants form dense clumps which can be divided every 3-5 years to maintain vigour.
