Cercidiphyllum japonicum
Description:
An attractive medium sized tree with small fresh green heart shaped leaves. Noted most for its autumn colour of yellow turning smokey pink, and at the same time the sweet candyfloss scent as the leaves fall, this tree can be gown as a smaller multi stem tree or if left over time will infact reach a much larger tree.
Wonderful when grown as a specimen tree.
Climate/Position: Sheltered area in full sun or light, dappled shade.
Height/Spread: Will eventually reach 20 metres x 10 metres with an elegant branching crown
Soil Requirements: Moist but well drained, acidic soils are prefered and though it will tolerate some lime, the tree will grow better and produce more vivid autumn colour in lime free or acid soils
Pruning: None required.
Special Requirements: Sheltered site with adequate room to develop a well shaped specimen.
