Helleborus 'White Beauty' (PBR)
Description: Hellebore's have been the subject of many breeding programmes in recent years and this is one of the strongest results. Striking broad leaves are leathery, dark-green and attractively marbled. The long-lasting pendent saucer-shaped white flowers fading to green, are produced from late winter to early spring. Does not set seed which can be advantageous in border planting.
Uses: As with all helleborus, lightly shaded borders or woodland settings are prefered.
Climate/Position: Ideal conditions are a partially shaded, sheltered spot.
Height/Spread: 35cm x 50cm
Soil Requirements: Slightly alkaline, (high pH)deep humus-rich free-draining is prefered.
Pruning: Older leaves can be removed in late winter to avoid distracting from the flowers.
Special Requirements: All parts of the plant cause severe discomfort if ingested and the sap may cause skin irritation.
Additional Interest: Plant Breeders Rights apply. Thought to come from a hybrid between H. niger and H. argutifolius.
