Hosta sieboldiana var. elegans
Description: Continues to be a popular Hosta with large blue deeply veined leaves which look, and are particularly tough. Excellent for additional texture in any border but especially in a moist foliage or stream garden. The very large bluey leaves are the main focus of the plant thought flower spikes of soft mauve can also be seen in summer.
Uses: Good in containers as well as woodland, stream and mixed borders.
Climate/Position: Avoid a sunny spot as they will burn and dry out. moist shaded site prefered.
Height/Spread: 50cm x 50cm
Soil Requirements: Well drained but moisture retentive soil.
Pruning: Cut back flower stalks after flowering. Leaves will die back in winter and will need removal.
Special Requirements: Be aware of slug damage so use one of the many anti slug remedies. Growing in pots does reduce damage.
