Lonicera x purpusii 'Winter Beauty'
Description: A round, deciduous or sometimes semi-evergreen shrub with bright-green, paired, ovate shaped leaves and red-purple young shoots. Very fragrant creamy-white flowers appear on bare branches in winter and early spring.
Uses: A well-drained mixed or winter border. Best planted near a path or in a front garden, where its gorgeous fragrance can be appreciated.
Climate/Position: Full sun or partial shade.
Height/Spread: Height and spread to 2 meters.
Soil Requirements: Any fertile, well-drained soil.
Pruning: Prune established shrubs after flowering, removing a third of the flowering shoots.
Special Requirements: Apply a mulch of well-rotted compost or manure around at the base of the plant in early spring.
