Magnolia ‘Gold Star’
Description: An extremely hardy deciduous Magnolia with frost hardy flowers happily withstanding frosts down to -15oC. In April soft yellow buds open to creamy yellow stellata shaped flowers up to 10cm across that turn to creamy white as they open and age. The flowers are produced before the leaves emerge.
Uses: Forms a large shrub / small tree slightly pyramidal in shape. Great in formal and informal situations
Climate/Position: Prefers a sunny site
Height/Spread: Height 5m. Spread 4m
Soil Requirements: Moist, humus-rich but well neutral to acid soil
Pruning: No regular pruning required. If pruning is needed, prune in summer when plant is in full leaf
Special Requirements: Shelter from cold winds
