Prunus x blireana
Description: A charming small tree or large spreading shrub which is suited to the smaller garden or where space is limited. Good for spring colour when the coppery-purple new foliage complements the semi-double, rosy pink flowers that appear during March. Leaves turn to dark purple land then dark green during summer.
Uses: Good as a tree for the smaller garden or in any garden border in larger gardens.
Climate/Position: Full sun
Height/Spread: 5 metres x 4 metres
Soil Requirements: Any moist, well-drained fertile soil.
Pruning: If any pruning required then this is best done in summer to reduce the risk of silver leaf and bacterial canker. Cut back any dead, diseased or branches which cross to healthy wood.
