Weigela 'Magical Rainbow'
Description: A variegated Weigela. The rainbow foliage is very distinct and fresh, leaves are green with a wide yellow border and dark pink tints which develop during summer and keep their variegation throughout the season contrasting with the red wood.
This compact and well branched deciduous shrub also produces an abundance of pink tubular flowers in May and June and sometimes again in autumn.
Uses: Suited for any border. Plant against green foliaged plants for best effect so that the variegated leaves show distinctly and brighten any corner or border.
Climate/Position: Grows in sun or partial shade The leaves do not burn in the sun as with some variegated plants.
Height/Spread: 1.2 metres height and spread.
Soil Requirements: Grows in any type of soil.
Pruning: Light pruning after flowering to encourage fresh growth and provide red stem colour. Less vigorous than many Weigela, but if required one or two of the oldest stems may be removed at ground level to rejuvenate the plant.

Additional Interest: 'Magic Rainbow' is also known as 'Kolmagira' and was Hybridized by Kolster, Netherlands and introduced in 2008 after winning a silver medal at Plantarium 2007 in Booskop, Holland.
