Add a little charm with Astrantia with their dainty pincushion like flowers with a fancy ruff around the outside of each flower. The flowers are produced on upright stems above the foliage in great abundance.
Astrantia like a little moisture in their rootzone but will also tolerate drier conditions too as long as they are mulched after planting and again in the spring. Flower colour ranges from white to deep purple- red to light pink.
Astrantia are widely used as they look excellent in many a situation including mixed border planting, informal and cottage gardens, underneath shrubs in full to part shade. Astrantia are pretty resilient to slug and snail damage too.
