Purple Star has a lot going for it as a compact shrub choice with interest virtually all year round.
In the spring the newly emerging foliage are tinged vivid red in colour with clusters of crinkled, intense purple flowers produced in abundance in early summer and through to early autumn.
The attractive peeling stem comes into its own in the winter months when the leaves drop and the cinnamon coloured bark is revealed.
Purple Star will reach around 1.2m in height and spread making it the perfect choice for planting in mixed plantings, borders and in containers in full sun to partial shade in well drained soil.
Rich in nectar, the bees love a Lagerstroemia almost as much as we do. Grown in Kent in peat free compost and kerb recyclable pots. Drought tolerant too
