Mahonia are the top winter interest shrub and can be used for multiple different purposes in the garden. Whether planted in mixed borders, as stand-alone plants, for security or as an option for use in containers, a Mahonia will make a statement at this time of year.
Mahonia and wildlife
Mahonia is also great for attracting wildlife during the colder months. The scented yellow flowers provide an important source of nectar for early pollinators and the birds love the berries during the autumn months. Mahonia have a very long flowering period making them even more useful for us and the early pollinators.
