Malus are an excellent choice for small gardens as the trees are of a manageable height. They are also great for pollinating insects.
Malus flower abundantly in the spring and look an absolute picture covered in delicate blooms but the best display is yet to come in the autumn when the berry forms slowly over the late summer, gradually ripening to small brightly coloured fruits that are a magnet for birds.
Malus x zumi 'Golden Hornet' is currently featured on our Spotlight On display. It has a broad ovoid crown and showy white-pink flowers followed by a large crop of bright yellow fruits maturing early in the autumn. 'Golden Hornet' thrives in full sun or partial shade.
