Euonymus provide some excellent hedging plants and with many small leaved varieties out there, there are some great alternatives to Buxus to be had – especially if you like a splash of colour in the mix!
Euonymus will grow in a wide range of soils and are pretty damn tough in sun or shade. Hardy, tolerant of pollution in urban areas and with little or no pruning required to keep the shape. The growth tends to be bushy and upright giving dense foliage cover with the added bonus of being quite slow growing too. Feed with a slow release fertiliser in the spring and give a good mulch in the autumn to keep in tip top condition.
These upright growing forms can also be used to great effect as stand alone accent plants or in containers.
Height options range from 20cm to 100cm in height and ideal for formal, informal or decorative hedging options.
