Newly introduced to the plant market a couple of years ago Carpinus betulus Orange Retz is a stunning choice for fabulous, fiery autumn foliage.
This new delight has an erect, upright habit almost flame like in shape with good compact growth giving dense foliage cover.
The leaves emerge a tinted bronze in spring, turning to a vibrant green in the summer but it is in the autumn when Orange Retz really performs. The foliage becomes a brilliant blaze of orange in the winter months with the leaves being held on the tree for several weeks.
Reaching a height of 5m overall this is a perfect choice for a hedge or as a stand alone ornamental tree.
