Two new Magnolia grandiflora varieties

Two new Magnolia grandiflora varieties

Never been held in stock before but here now and ready for the Magnolia enthusiasts among you;

Magnolia grandiflora Maryland and Magnolia grandiflora Kay Parris.  Both have been bred to flower from a young age, very winter hardy and good for smaller gardens.

Magnolia grandiflora Maryland.  This particular Magnolia has a slightly more rounded shape than other grandiflora types.  The foliage is olive green underneath and act as the perfect foil for the massive, creamy white, goblet-shaped, citrus-scented flowers that are freely produced from spring and continue through the summer months.  Varying in height between 3-8m and 2-4m spread the compact growth gives good dense foliage cover.  Hardy down to -20 degrees.  Perfect for a focal plant due to the habit and size.

Magnolia grandiflora Kay Parris.  Rippled foliage that emerges pink in the spring, turning green with distinctive orange-brown undersides.  The growth is compact in habit with a slightly pyramidal overall habit.  The spicy lemon scented creamy white flowers are freely produced from May and continually through the summer.  Height 6m and spread 2-3m.  Hardy down to -15 degrees
