This breath-taking plant should be plant of the month every January without a doubt.
Exotic, spidery blooms exude a spicy scent that positively fills the air around each plant. The papery blooms are produced on bare branches in January and are immune to hard frosts. Flowering from December to March Hamamelis there is a choice of flower colour to suit any mixed planting scheme.
Hamamelis can be used as a large shrub or small tree in a woodland environment or mixed border and as a specimen plant in a semi-shaded position.
Popular choices are:
Diane with crimson red flowers
mollis with bright yellow petals with a red/ orange hue to the base of each petal
Pallida with large sulphur yellow flowers
Ruby Glow with red flowers that have a slight orange hint to them
