Viburnum tinus in flower now

Spring herald the arrival of many a flowering shrub including the humble Viburnum tinus.  Having held their tight pink buds over the winter months, come spring the buds open to reveal clusters of flowers from December to April depending on how cold the weather is.  


A great all round plant for winter and spring interest, as a good evergreen background plant fro summer flowering shrubs and perennials, urban planting as it is very pollution tolerant and of course as a flowering hedge.  


Viburnum tinus is the most well known option reaching 2.8m in height but check out these other varieties too:  


Viburnum tinus Lisarose has delightful red buds opening to white flowers.  This variety is equally tolerant of sun and shade.  Ideal for a taller option reaching 2.5m in height  


Viburnum tinus Spirit has tiny pink buds opening to white flowers.  Height 2m


Viburnum tinus Ladybird has dark pink buds and white flowers.  A new variety with a dense rounded habit reaching 1.2m


Viburnum tinus Gwenllian has pink buds and white flowers against glossy foliage


Viburnum tinus Eve Price has carmine buds and pale pink flowers and a compact habit reaching 2m in height
