There are two particularly striking Cornus worth looking out for that form graceful trees with an elegant structure. Both are highly ornamental and worth checking out and both are equally decorative in form with their iconic layered appearance.
Both can be treated as small trees or large shrubs and lend themselves well as focal point trees. The variegated foliage and autumn foliage colour complement the form and add to the elegance of these two Cornus options. The two Cornus in question are:
- Cornus controversa Variegata. Horizontal tiered branches with silver variegated leaves.
- Cornus alternifolia Argentea. The leaves are mid-green with white margins. Small white flowers are freely produced in the summer months and followed by blue-black fruit.
It being a cold spring this year the Cornus are just starting to unfurl their leaves fully and with warm weather soon they will be in full fabulous foliage.
