What a fabulous plant Fothergilla is.
Fothergilla x intermedia Blue Shadow. Creamy - white, scented, feathery flowerheads are freely borne in late spring when the rounded leaves start to emerge which mature to a subtle blue-green in summer and then in the autumn, a burning blaze of red, yellow and orange foliage before falling.
Compact in height and spread reaching a maximum of 1m. It does like an acidic soil in a rich humus-rich soil. Great for sun to partial shade.
From bud, to full flower, to full foliage to autumn colour. What is not to like?
