If you have not met a Vitex yet, we are about to make your day.
Perfect for late summer colour and happily through to autumn, Vitex are an unusual shrub that has aromatic foliage, interesting leaf arrangement and upright panicles of fragrant flowers that last well into the autumn months.
It is an unfussy plant in terms of soil requirements taking pretty much anything at root level. It does thrive in a sunny spot. Reaching both height and spread of 1.5-2.5m in time. Prune in the winter months back to a bud to control the shape if needed.
If you have visited Wisley in the late summer you may well have noticed a lovely specimen growing against the wall of the library building as you enter the gardens.
